"I must say I'm impressed with the quality of all the work done so far and very appreciative of the thought that went into the project. Craig is awesome, as is the fiberglasser - you've got a great crew!"

"Craig and Ian went well above and beyond in customer service, the repair itself, general professionalism, and in pretty much in every way imaginable. They kept us informed every step of the way, and there were no big surprises at the end of the day which was wonderful. I would highly recommend Explorer Yachts to anyone wanting to improve their boating experience. Thanks again guys!

The Yanmar 3GM30(F) diesel engine of our sailboat has been notoriously difficult to start for many years, with only a few skilled individuals able to get it going consistently. Even then, it required a methodical multi-step ritual which made starting the engine after a day of sailing way more stressful than it should be. This past fall, the level of anxiety became unbearable, and something significant needed to be done. We've had several skilled mechanics in the lower mainland look at it over the years, and in hindsight, many were on the right track, and eliminated one or more pieces of the puzzle. Unfortunately, it would never stay working, and our hopes of trouble-free starts always faded within hours to a week at most after each repair attempt. Explorer Yachts was eager to take a crack at it, and sent Ian, one of their mechanics. Ian took his time, carefully listening to the history and things we had already checked. He then began a very detailed troubleshooting session, ending in an "ah-ha" moment, isolating the trouble to an odd-looking assembly on the engine block. Although this wasn't the exact problem, it led the team to investigating what else could be wrong within that assembly. Craig tirelessly looked through Yanmar service bulletins and found one from way back in 2000 which stated that a check valve in this assembly could fail (and did). The replacement parts were ordered the following day from the U.S. and Craig kept us posted on their progress. Ian installed them a few weeks later, rendering the engine immediately easier to start. It's not perfect yet, but it's darn close and, more importantly, has stayed that way. No more convoluted ritual required. Hooray!"

We spent a delightful day with Ian yesterday winterizing our boat. As you indicated Ian is very experienced and tenacious when solving problems like the drip seal water line issue on our boat. He was a pleasure to meet and a great ambassador for you.

We will certainly have him back aboard again."

"Finally getting around to expressing great thanks to you guys for resolving my failed tension pulley in a rapid enough time for us to have a great vacation and take a larger group out to see the fireworks on the last night where Canada put on a great show.

I'd like to call out the supper job that Ian did. He was thorough, professional, found and corrected previous errors.

Chad, Craig - your guys did a great job.

Much appreciated!

"Thanks Chad for the report and for the audit. This was very helpful as we are currently in the midst of revamping our boat! It's great to have a knowledgeable inspection especially at this stage."

"I recently had the pleasure to work with Chad and Craig of Explorer Yacht Services. The project required preparation of a new Genesis RIB dinghy for mounting on the stern of my power cruiser. There was already existing davit hardware and stand-off arms on the cruiser, so the process of mounting the pads to the tubes had to be carefully planned. Through careful measurements we made a mock-up of the stern/swim platform at their Richmond warehouse and were able to get the correct measurements without frequent time-consuming and costly trips to the cruiser. Craig was very patient with me during the whole process and always willing to discuss minor changes to the process.

A swivel mount for the outboard was also successfully installed.

The end result worked out very well and the dinghy was left in very clean condition (without glue everywhere - which would have happened if I did the work myself!) Thanks to Craig and others at Explorer Yacht Services for a job well done!"
